Warriors reportedly among teams interested in Anderson Varejao

The Cavaliers parted ways with Anderson Varejao in the deadline day deal with the Magic that added Channing Frye to the Cleveland roster.

Varejao ended up with the Blazers as part of the three-team trade, but has since been released and will become an unrestricted free agent once he clears waivers on Sunday. Not surprisingly, multiple teams are expected to be interested in acquiring the veteran big man's services, and (via ESPN's Marc Stein) that includes the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

The Thunder, Spurs and Mavericks are also in the mix, but the inclusion of the Warriors on this list is perhaps the most intriguing. The loss of Festus Ezeli, who will be out about six weeks with a knee injury, is the only reason that the acquisition of Varejao would make any sense.

Varejao would be a nice addition to the end of a contender's bench. The 12-year veteran is still capable of bringing the intensity on the defensive end of the floor in bursts, and his per-36 numbers show that he can still rebound at a high rate when given a nice chunk of minutes.
