Utah Jazz Notes: Bolomboy to Stars, Hill's Holiday Bash

Utah Jazz rookie Joel Bolomboy was reassigned to the D-League’s Salt Lake City Stars and George Hill is holding a holiday bash to support the military.

The Utah Jazz announced that rookie big man Joel Bolomboy was reassigned to the team’s D-League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars on Friday. Bolomboy spent the afternoon at Bruin Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College, participating in Stars practice.

However, the former Weber State star could be in for another short stay with the Stars.

This marks the third time Bolomboy has been assigned to the team this season, yet he’s only appeared in one game for Salt Lake City. On Nov. 21, the 22-year-old scored nine points, grabbed 12 rebounds and added one steal and two blocks in 42 minutes against the Oklahoma City Blue.

The quick back-and-forth trips are made possible by the team’s proximity to their parent club. As such, the Jazz are afforded the luxury of getting players like Bolomboy extra floor time with their D-League affiliate.

Salt Lake’s next game is on Sunday, December 11 in South Dakota, as the team travels to take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce. However, the Jazz play host to DeMarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings one night earlier on the 10th. So Bolomboy may just be back with the Jazz before the Stars set off for Sioux Falls.

Bolomboy has appeared in seven games with the Jazz this season, averaging 0.7 points in limited minutes.

    George Hill Hosting Holiday Bash

Jazz point guard George Hill has been making a big impact in the local community since joining the Jazz this summer. Last month, I spoke to him about his Hearts & Hoops initiative to collect boxed/canned goods for the Utah Food Bank and toys for the state’s chapter of Toys For Tots.

Now he’s turning his attention to the troops.

On December 15, Hill will be on hand for the first Annual Utah G3 Holiday Bash.

The party’s proceeds will benefit Wish for Our Heroes. W4OH seeks to assist to the men and women of the United States active-duty military, and in some cases, veterans. 100% of donations will remain in the greater Salt Lake City area to assist with basic necessities, i.e. food, shelter, child needs, medical expenes, transportation, etc.

The event will be hosted by actor/producer Drew Waters, with entertainment provided by country music singer/songwriter Dustin Lynch.
