Timberwolves Prediction: Winning It All This Season (Part 1)
We’re all Timberwolves fans here (right?); we might as well enjoy an unlikely championship run prediction and that might look like…
Right now, the Timberwolves odds officially stand at 100-1 when it comes to winning this year’s NBA title. I’m not a ‘math guy’ but that one percent, I think, will make all the difference in this highly anticipated season.
Here is what will happen:
Timberwolves before the All-Star game
The Timberwolves will have a great start to the season, going 13-2 before playing the Golden State Warriors in Oakland on November 26. The Warriors, remember, only had two home losses last season. One of those losses was against, guess who, the Wolves in overtime.
The Warriors will play with a lot of intensity, but the Wolves will prevail. Karl Anthony-Towns and Gorgui Dieng will dominate the Warriors’ soft inside game. A big statement win gives the Wolves a 14-2 record, and they head into the All-Star break with a outstanding record of 36-21.
Timberwolves after the All-Star game
Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony-Towns are the two Wolves All-Stars on the West roster. Wiggins participates in the dunk contest and beats teammate Zach LaVine. The Timberwolves roll on and finish the season with a 54-28 record, putting them at the number-three seed in the playoff.
Timberwolves in the playoffs
Their first opponent is the sixth seed: the Houston Rockets. The Rockets will have built their entire season on nothing but offense. The Timberwolves will take advantage of their weak defense and shut them down with Tom Thibodeau’s defensive system.
The Timberwolves will win their series against the Rockets by a 4-1 margin, advancing to the second round.
While the Wolves wait for their opponents, the Warriors would have beaten the Jazz; the fourth-seeded Clippers would have eliminated the Blazers; and the number-two seed Spurs, who are still struggling to move on from the Tim Duncan era, will fall to the Thunder.
In the Eastern Conference, the Cavs beat the Hawks; the number-four seed Raptors fall to the Celtics; the super-team Knicks beat the number-six seed Bulls; and the Bucks, led by Matthew Dellavedova, easily get past the number-seven seed Pacers.
The Timberwolves will then face Oklahoma City at home in the next round. It should be exciting to see who is going to stop Steven Adams, who will stop Delly and the Bucks, and more…
Stay tuned for Part Two…
