Timberwolves F Dante Cunningham accused of choking girlfriend

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham is accused of choking his girlfriend during an argument.

A criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court says his girlfriend told police they got into an argument early Thursday at his suburban Minneapolis home. She told police he grabbed her around the neck and slammed her against the wall, choking for 15 to 20 seconds during which she could not breathe. The complaint says he dropped her, and she called 911.

Cunningham is charged with a felony count of domestic assault by strangulation.

The 26-year-old is jailed with bail set at $40,000. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney yet.

He was unable to join the Timberwolves when they left Thursday on a two-game road trip to Florida.
