Tickets to Cavs' Game 7 watch party skyrocket

The hottest ticket in Cleveland is one that won't get you into an actual live sporting event.

Ducats the the Cavaliers' official Game 7 watch party at Quicken Loans Arena went on sale Friday at 10 a.m. and sold out in less than two minutes. With so many fans clamoring to be a part of Cleveland's potential title-clinching celebration on SUnday, tickets were selling for as much as $150 each on the secondary market as of the afternoon.

The tickets, which cost $5 (with proceeds going to local charities) for anyone who was lucky enough to get through online or at The Q Arena box office, were listed anywhere from $50-$200 on resale sites like Craigslist and eBay. Some eBay auctions showed an end price of $800 for a four pack of tickets, plus parking.

In addition to "for sale" ads, Craigslist is flooded with "wanted" posts from fans looking to get their hands on the hot tickets.

One desperate fan started a Change.org online petition asking the Cleveland Indians to open Progressive Field for an additional viewing party.

While The Q normally has a seating capacity of 20,562, the arena is being reconfigured for the upcoming Republican National Convention, so there are less seats available for Game 7 than in previous watch parties. To accomodate additional fans, the Cavaliers are also hosting an outdoor watch party in the Gateway Plaza area outside of Quicken Loans Arena. Tickets for the outdoor event will be available to purchase at 2 p.m. Friday for a cost of $5 each.

The Cavaliers announced plans for the watch party following the team's Game 6 victory over Golden State Thursday. The RNC committee was scheduled to take over Quicken Loans Arena after the conclusion of Game 6 to begin its six-week preparations for the upcoming convention, but after the Cavs extended the series to seven games, decision-makers from both organizations worked out an agreement to make Sunday's viewing party happen.
