Thunder guard found out Kevin Durant was leaving on Instagram

One of the biggest stories of the NBA offseason — aww screw it, the entire calendar year — was Kevin Durant's decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder and sign with the Golden State Warriors. It now makes the team which was already the prohibitive favorite going into next year (along with the Cleveland) the overwhelming favorite, while also crippling G-State's biggest competition in the West.

Simply put, the move was shocking, and as we found out Wednesday, it wasn't just contained to the general public. Some of Durant's own former teammates were stunned as well.

Thunder guard Cameron Payne joined "The Herd" (where Nick Wright filled in as Colin Cowherd's replacement for the afternoon), and shared vivid details about Durant's departure.

Which included the surprising way he discovered that Durant was headed to Golden State:

Man, oh man. What can you even say at this point? As crazy as it was for us as fans to take the whole KD-to-G-State thing in, imagine being one of the guys on the KD's former team — the one that was one win away from knocking off the Warriors on their way to the Finals. And then seeing Durant end up there.

It must have been brutal.

But even so, Payne took the high road when discussing the move.

Wright wrapped up the interview with the one final question for the people: How will Russell Westbrook react the first time those two teams meet this coming season?

Will it be a game for the ages from Russ?

So do we. And we can't wait for the first time the Thunder play the Warriors next season.
