Thoughts: Sacramento Kings Cut Lamar Patterson
It was reported today by CSN Bay Area’s James Ham that the Sacramento Kings have parted ways with two-guard Lamar Patterson.
Thoughts: In my opinion, the decision to cut ties with the 25-year old made sense for Vlade Divac and company. The Kings entered training camp with a quintet of shooting guards: Arron Afflalo, Ben McLemore, Garrett Temple, Malachi Richardson, and Patterson himself.
I expect Afflalo, Temple, and McLemore to remain on the roster when the regular season starts while Richardson is sent to D-League to get some playing time and experience under his belt.
The Kings already two young shooting guards to develop in McLemore and Richardson, so there is no need to add another project in Patterson.
During his tenure with Sacramento, Patterson played a total of four preseason games where he averaged 9.3 minutes and 5.8 points per game. He also shot 45.5% (5-11) from the floor and 33.3% (2-6) from the three-point line.
