The Warriors are taking advantage of their Silicon Valley connection

The Golden State Warriors are taking over unprecedented territory.

And it's not winning an NBA championship. Sure, contending is a new thing for this regime, but they did that 40 years ago.

No, this Warriors team is also taking over in a different area: Silicon Valley.

While the Lakers and Clippers have Hollywood, the Knicks have Broadway, and the Heat have South Beach, the Warriors have tech companies they can invest in -- and a few Warriors are doing just that.

Harrison Barnes is consulting at Facebook on the side. Andre Iguodala was part of a startup company that was recently purchased by eBay, and spoke at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2015. And Stephen Curry has somehow found enough time in his busy schedule to link with CoachUp, a private coaching website and app service.

"I had a coach I worked with starting at the age of 13 in lieu of playing AAU basketball and traveling all over the country I stayed in Charlotte and to have the one-on-one experience … I benefited so much from it," Curry told USA Today Sports. Curry is also involved with a social media company that engages athletes and fans, which he hopes will release sometime next year.

Iguodala is perhaps the most infatuated with Silicon Valley, and hopes to get involved with more start-up companies.

"New York’s always going to be special and LA you have the whole Hollywood thing," Iguodala told USA Today Sports. "You kind of start to take advantage of the city you’re in or the environment you’re in, definitely the environment the Bay Area’s in, it’s at your disposal."
