Steve Nash tells angry Twitter fan to meet him in Temecula
From his Funny or Die skits to his Vitamin Water commercials, Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash has shown he's one of the funniest guys in the NBA.
He's also apparently well-versed in Twitter memes. When used correctly, that's a dangerous combination.
Nash put his skills to work Tuesday after being called out by an angry Twitter user, retorting with a snarky, thought-out quip (Here is the NSFW tweet):
Boom. Culturally relevant and the right amount of mocking. Could Nash have responded any better?
For those unaware, back at Christmas time, two Twitter users got into an argument about Kobe Bryant's value to the Lakers. Things quickly escalated, and the two individuals threatened to meet up and fight each other.
The tweeter defending Bryant became so enraged that he drove more than 40 minutes to Temecula, California, to encounter the other guy, publicizing his journey on Twitter with tweets and photos.
The interaction blew up online, spawning a "Meet me in Temecula" meme, and is still a running joke on Twitter. Even Bryant commented on it.
Nash, who is out for the season with a debilitating nerve issue in his back, was tweeting about the Champions League soccer match between Barcelona and Manchester City. He has been one of the scapegoats for the Lakers' miserable season, and one misguided fan apparently didn't like what he had to say.
Much like his pick-and-rolls with Amar'e Stoudemire in the mid-'00s, Nash's execution was flawless. His playing days could possibly be over, but he's still always one step ahead of his competition.
