Should the Knicks sign Tony Wroten?

Tony Wroten passed through waivers over the weekend after the 76ers released him following a trade with the Pelicans for Ish Smith. That means Wroten, who has seen a dip in his playing time and production since last season, is free to sign with any team. Shoudl that team be the Knicks?

Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal believes so:

Wroten's season ended early last year with an ACL injury, but he's still only 22 years old and at the mental state of recovering. He only played eight games with the Sixers this year before his release.

He may not be shooting well this year, but that's mostly because he hasn't gotten back some of the explosion he had before the injury, which isn't yet a worry since players rarely ever come back from injuries as serious as ones to the ACL and return to their previous form immediately. The good news: Wroten is still getting to the hoop just as much. He just isn't finishing his baskets as often as usual.

Actually, compared to last year, a higher percentage of Wroten's field-goal attempts this season have come at the rim. That's a nice sign, considering players tend to be a little more tentative going for physical contact after ACL injuries. He's never been much of a shooter, and he's not necessarily one to run an offense, but the Knicks starting guards (Jose Calderon, Arron Afflalo) aren't ones to get to the hoop ever. Calderon pulls up; Afflalo posts or spots up. If the Knicks want someone to get all the way to the rim and not just to the block, Wroten could be a nice add.

Plus, for a team that's still rebuilding, adding a 22-year-old with talent to develop wouldn't be the worst move in NBA history.
