Sergio Llull will not play for the Rockets next season

Extracting point guard Sergio Llull from Spanish club Real Madrid has been a goal of Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey for a few years now, but it looks like a marriage between the two sides isn't meant to be. For now.

The Rockets would likely have to buy out Llull's contract, then give him their mid-level exception. But it'd be worth it. They're super thin at point guard right now. Patrick Beverley is a restricted free agent, and behind him Houston only has Nick Johnson and Pablo Prigioni.

Jason Terry is an unrestricted free agent, too. The Rockets are now in a position where matching whatever offer sheet Beverley signs is extremely important.
