Scott looks to 'move on' from Kobe minutes mistake

At least Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott admits he's wrong. Scott, who is in his first year with the Lakers, is owning up to the fact that he's played star shooting guard Kobe Bryant far too many minutes this season, a mistake that has forced Bryant to sit out six of the team's last 11 games to rest.

According to ESPN's Baxter Holmes, Scott is trying to move past the blunder, and took forward towards the rest of the season:

Lakers coach Byron Scott admits Bryant's heavy work load was his fault, but he's trying not to dwell on the mistake.

"You try to move away from it and forget about it," Scott said Monday. "But it's hard to do when you have a guy you care about so much and you think you kind of messed up. I think I played him too much early.

"If I would've stuck to the 32 minutes or 33 at the most, he might have been able to play a little bit more of these games that he's missed. But you know what, I realize it. You have to move on from it, learn from your mistakes and go forward."

It will be interesting to monitor Bryant's minutes from here on out, as Scott had already said he was going to drop Bryant's minutes earlier in the season and went back on his claim.

As Scott suggested before Sunday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Bryant could sit out the rest of the season after the All-Star break, since the Lakers will be officially eliminated from playoff contention by that point.
