San Antonio newbie LaMarcus Aldridge gets very Popovich lesson in way of the Spurs
In guiding the San Antonio Spurs towards a potential sixth NBA championship, Gregg Popovich has plenty of work cut out for him this season.
A good chunk of it will be assuaging new personalities who aren't used to the San Antonio culture: How it rests players, limits minutes and sacrifices counting stats for the good of the team.
The season hasn't even started but new Spur LaMarcus Aldridge and longtime coach Popovich have already apparently had a disagreement (albeit, one that is minor and insignificant) about . . . practice reps.
Clearly, this is a classic example of Popovich's dry humor with reporters. Heck, he might've made the disgruntled part up. Aldridge did sit out, but the Spurs are too adult for silly distractions that tend to undo lesser organizations. Once again, it looks like the joke might be on everyone but Popovich.
