Rubio to discuss hoops future on Friday

Ricky Rubio says he will hold a news conference in Spain on Friday to discuss his basketball future.

Rubio made the announcement on Twitter on Thursday. The Associated Press was one of several outlets to report earlier this month that Rubio will leave Regal Barcelona to join the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA.

The Timberwolves have declined to comment publicly on Rubio's status. The 20-year-old just finished helping Barcelona to the Spanish ACB championship, clearing the way for him to discuss his future in the NBA.

Rubio is expected to fly to the United States for a news conference in Minnesota early next week. The Timberwolves drafted the flashy point guard with the fifth overall pick in 2009.
