Rockets set to work out Duke point guard Tyus Jones
The Houston Rockets have the 18th overall pick in this year's draft, and there's a solid chance they look to select someone who can create offensive opportunities for others.
A playmaker who can penetrate, forge passing lanes and make teammates look good. One option is Duke point guard Tyus Jones, who the team will reportedly work out on Wednesday. Here's more, courtesy of FanSided's Rockets blog House of Houston:
"For a player that was arguably regarded as the nation’s best point guard out there, he’s not quite ready to start at the professional level on the elite teams, but would be an excellent project to develop. The attributes of a point guard are there, superior floor-general, leader, can dole out the dimes with precision and good shooter of the rock."
Houston needs all of those things right now, even if Jones isn't ready to give them consistently for at least one more year. He's a small guy, so defense may be an issue, but finding a sure thing with the 18th overall pick is just about impossible.
The Rockets are right to take a risk here.
