Rivers calls Game 1 tech worst ever

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers took issue with a technical foul issued to him in the second quarter of the defeat against Miami Heat on Monday night.

Rivers was handed the technical after calling for a foul after Rajon Rondo scored a layup in Game 1 in Miami.

Television footage showed the coach shouting, "C'mon Eddie," to referee Ed Malloy. Moments later, Malloy stopped the game and gave him the technical.

Rivers said after the game, "I know mine wasn't (a technical). I can tell you that much. I don't know how long I've been in the league, but that has to rank as the worst I've ever had. I would have loved to have earned it."

The Celtics got five technicals in their 93-79 defeat in the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Rivers added, "We should never get them, anyway. I told our guys that. But everybody has to keep their composure."
