Reports: General manager David Griffin leaving Cavaliers
General manager David Griffin will not return to the Cavaliers, according to multiple reports. ESPN's Brian Windhorst was first to report the news.
Griffin's contract expires this summer and there has long been speculation he would leave Cleveland. He had previously been connected to the open Hawks GM job but that position was filled by Travis Schlenk.
Griffin joined the Cavaliers in 2010 and was promoted to general manager in 2014. In April, LeBron James spoke out in favor of the Cavs extending Griffin's contract.
Former NBA guard and current ESPN analyst Chauncey Billups is expected to become a candidate for the open Cavs job, Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
