Report: Wolves talking buyout for former No. 1 pick Bennett

Former No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett probably isn't done playing basketball, but according to a report from Yahoo Sports/FOX Sports 1 NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Bennett's days with the Minnesota Timberwolves could be coming to a close.

Wojnarowksi reports that the Wolves are discussing a buyout with Bennett, who was acquired in the deal that sent Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers in return for Andrew Wiggins. If the two sides can agree to a buyout of Bennett's reported $5.8 million contract, the former UNLV standout would enter the waiver pool and would become a free agent if he is not claimed.

According to the report, court time is the crux of the issue, with Bennett's side pushing for the buyout.

In two seasons, Bennett has averaged 4.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. For the Wolves, he totaled 5.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 15.7 minutes per game.
