Report: Thorn out as Nets president-GM
A person with knowledge of the decision says Rod Thorn is stepping down as president and general manager of the New Jersey Nets.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team had not authorized public comment.
Thorn would not confirm the move Saturday in a text message to the AP. It remains unclear whether Thorn will remain with the team in another capacity.
The Nets have a new owner in Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, and a new coach in Avery Johnson. Also, GM Kiki Vandeweghe's contract was not renewed.
New Jersey won a franchise-low 12 games last season.
The news comes days before the July 1 start of free agency.
ESPN The Magazine first reported Friday that Thorn will step down July 15.
