Report: The Wizards might build a practice facility near Kevin Durant's home
The Washington Wizards are considering building a practice facility on the site of the former St. Elizabeth's Hospital, which is located seven miles from where Oklahoma City Thunder superstar and Washington D.C. native Kevin Durant grew up.
The Wizards, who are strongly pursuing Durant with a homecoming pitch when he hits free agency in 2016, hope that the new practice facility is a draw for free agents.
“It’s a huge recruiting tool for free agents. This is where the players go to to work every day,” Randall Boe -- the executive vice president and general counsel of Monumental Sports and Entertainment (Wizards owner Ted Leonsis' company) -- told The Washington Post.
While Durant has yet to leave any indication that he's considering leaving the Thunder next summer, there is rampant speculation that the Wizards are the frontrunners if he decides to bolt.
