Report: The Celtics are 'dangling' first-round picks to move up in the draft

The Boston Celtics didn't "want" to make the playoffs this year. Doing so may muck up a rebuild by removing them from the lottery and instead giving them a pick in the middle of the first round.

It's exactly why general manager Danny Ainge is reportedly trying like mad to move up in the draft. According to the Racine Journal Times' Gery Woelfel, the Celtics are "dangling" their two first-round picks (numbers 16 and 28).

It's rare to see an NBA team move up in the draft, but Boston is one that recently did it, surrendering two future second-round picks to the Dallas Mavericks for the right to move up and snatch Kelly Olynyk.

But it's not easy. And they'll likely have to give up more than they want to make a deal with the Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons or any other team that could be potentially interested in swapping draft slots. Those teams want to win sooner than later, and it's unclear what legitimate talent the Celtics are willing to part with just to move up a few picks.

This seems unlikely.
