Report: Spurs sign 7-3 center from the Euroleague
San Antonio's frontcourt depth was a bit thin last week, despite adding LaMarcus Aldridge and David West. They lost Aron Baynes and Tiago Splitter, two bigs who understand San Antonio's system.
With Tim Duncan one year older, they needed another center. According to the San Antonio Express-News, they found him, Serbian Boban Marjanovic:
"At a legitimate 7-foot-3, the 26-year-old Marjanovic would fill a hole on the Spurs’ bench created when Aron Baynes signed with Detroit last week. A skilled big man with panache for rebounding, Marjanovic averaged 16.6 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in Euroleague play for the Serbian club Red Star. That was good enough to earn All-Euroleague recognition, an honor previously earned by the likes of Manu Ginobili, Tiago Splitter, Arvydas Sabonis and Luis Scola, among others."
Marjanovic is only 26 years old and clearly has the type of skill-set San Antonio loves in basketball players. There's a solid chance he doesn't see the floor unless the four guys in front of him get injured or need rest (the latter being likely), but Marjanovic looks like a solid pick up for a team that officially has no weaknesses.
