Report: Nets CEO would offer 'everything under the sun' to John Calipari

John Calipari may have an NBA suitor in the Brooklyn Nets.

The Washington Post’s Tim Bontemps wrote in a recent mailbag that if Nets CEO Brett Yormark is calling the shots, Calipari will be offered “everything under the sun” to become the team’s basketball czar.

Bontemps notes that he’s heard conflicting opinions on whether Calipari would actually take the opportunity.

Calipari coached the Nets between 1996 and 1998, going 72-112 over parts of three seasons. He hasn’t coached in the NBA since.

The fact is, Coach Cal is running an NBA factory at Kentucky. He has a sweet deal, and despite reported interest from other NBA teams, there’s not much indication he’s in any hurry to leave behind what he has going to take over an NBA franchise.
