Report: Mavericks 'encouraged' by early Deron Williams performance
The Nets were excited to get rid of Deron Williams. The Mavericks are apparently excited to have him.
Williams signed a two-year deal with Dallas after working a buyout with Brooklyn over the summer, and now, he heads to Texas with a new agenda, trying to improve on a disappointing tenure with the Nets. So far, so good.
From ESPN's Tim MacMahon:
This isn't exactly shocking. Every year, we hear that guys are in the best shape of their lives heading into training camp. And we hear every which way.
It's not like Williams was terrible last year. He was just overpaid. He did show stretches during which he dominated, most of which coming after long periods of rest, like at the start of the season and after the All-Star break. This would qualify under that category.
Let's see how D-Will is playing against actual competition before we start throwing loads of praise onto him.
