Report: Draymond Green arrested, charged with assault in East Lansing

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was arrested Sunday in East Lansing, Mich., as first reported by MLive.com and later confirmed by ESPN.

Green was arrested at 2:28 a.m. ET Sunday and is scheduled for arraignment on July 20. East Lansing Police issued this statement to ESPN:

The Warriors issued a statement Monday morning:

Green, a member of the Team USA basketball squad headed to the Rio Olympics next month, was a star basketball player at Michigan State University, which is located in East Lansing.

Green, 26, is coming off his best NBA season and his first All-Star appearance. He helped lead the Warriors to an NBA-record 73 regular-season wins, but his suspension in Game 5 of the NBA Finals allowed the eventual champion Cleveland Cavaliers to get back into and then win the series they trailed 3-1. Green, who averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists during the regular season, was suspended based on the cumulative number of flagrant fouls on his record during the playoffs.
