Nets fined for Jay-Z's Kentucky visit

The NBA has fined the New Jersey Nets $50,000 after minority owner Jay-Z visited Kentucky's locker room after the team's Elite Eight victory, New York's SNY-TV and ESPN reported Friday.

The hip-hop mogul was photographed March 31 in the locker room of Newark's Prudential Center with Wildcats Josh Harrellson, Brandon Knight, Terrence Jones and Darius Miller. Kentucky had just beaten North Carolina to clinch a berth in the Final Four.

The Nets also play their home games at the Prudential Center.

The NBA prohibits teams from having excessive contact with college players until they officially declare for the NBA Draft. Knight and Jones, both freshmen, are projected as first round picks if they choose to declare for the draft.

In 2007, the Boston Celtics were fined $30,000 by the league after general manager Danny Ainge sat in the stands with the mother of Texas star Kevin Durant during the Big 12 Tournament.
