NBA Trade Rumors: Wilson Chandler Wants Out Of Denver
NBA Trade Rumors: Veteran forward Wilson Chandler would like a change of scenery; he wants out of Denver before this month’s NBA Trade Deadline
The Denver Nuggets will likely play the role of buyers in the weeks leading up to this year’s NBA Trade Deadline. However, don’t be surprised if they move one or more of their veteran pieces.
We’ve already heard whispers of Jameer Nelson popping up in trade talks. Now, it’s Wilson Chandler’s turn, apparently.
According to a report from USA Today, Chandler wants out of Denver. Soon.
More from Sir Charles In Charge
As the NBA’s Feb. 23 trade deadline approaches, the Denver Nuggets arre widely seen as a team that will likely be active. And if 29-year-old forward Wilson Chandler has his way, all that trade chatter will lead to him changing jerseys sometime soon.
According to two people with knowledge of Chandler’s situation, the player who came to Denver as part of the Carmelo Anthony deal six years ago wants to be traded. The people spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the situation.
Per the report, he’s grown tired of the inconsistency with his role with the Nuggets. He’s only started 13 out of 44 games this season, despite the fact that he’s having a career year – 15.4 PPG, 6.7 REB, 45 FG%.
It’s evident that Chandler wants to be a starter, and he simply doesn’t have that opportunity in Denver right now. Perhaps the best the best move for both parties is a divorce.
After this season, Chandler has two years remaining on his current contract, with a player option for 2018-19. He’s due an average of $12 million per year. Depending on what the Nuggets would ask for in return, Chandler could carve out a nice trade market in the coming weeks.
