Mavs resting Nowitzki, Williams, other starters vs. Pelicans

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle has decided to rest Dirk Nowitzki and three other starters against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night because of the minutes they logged in a double-overtime game a night earlier.

Nowitzki, Deron Williams, Zaza Pachulia and Wesley Matthews all are listed as out, with ''rest'' cited as the reason they've been scratched from the lineup. The four each played more than 40 minutes Tuesday night in a 117-116 victory over Sacramento. The only starter who played fewer than 30 minutes was Chandler Parsons, who is nursing a right hip bruise.

Parsons has been announced as a starter at New Orleans, along with Charlie Villanueva, Raymond Felton, J.J. Bare and JaVale McGee.

The Pelicans have been able to rest since their victory in Dallas last Saturday night.
