Lil B spares D'Angelo Russell of 'The Based God' curse

"The Based God" curse is a real phenomenon.

Doubt it all you want, but how else can one rationally explain Kevin Durant and James Harden's playoff shortcomings?

Luck? Chance? Superior opposition?

No. No. And no.

It's because they've both been cursed by The Based God, a.k.a. Bay Area-based rapper Lil B, and their NBA careers have been haunted ever since.

The Based God was considering cursing another victim -- Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell -- for video-taping teammate Nick Young discussing his relations with other women, despite being in a relationship with Australian rapper Iggy Azalea.

The controversy left a sour taste in many people's mouths, including Lil B, apparently:

But after consulting with his fans on Twitter, The Based God decided to spare the 20-year-old Lakers' career:

If Russell breaks out next season, it won't be because he's not playing for Byron Scott anymore, or because Luke Walton set him free. It'll be because of Lil B.

As for Durant? He's still cursed as far as we know.
