LeBron's sneakers play a role in season premiere of 'True Detective'

LeBron James is never too far from any piece of pop culture. The NBA's greatest player has an influence that extends well beyond the sport.

This includes HBO programming. Last night, we were reminded of King James during the premiere for the second season of "True Detective." In the episode, estranged father and cop-with-issues Ray Velcoro (played by Colin Farrell with some pretty curious hair) was enraged when he discovered that his son's shoes had been stolen and destroyed by bullies. “The f***ing LeBrons or whatever," he calls them.

What happens next is a doozy, but you'll have to watch to find out... this is a spoiler-free zone.
