Lawson gave up guaranteed money after getting traded to Houston

Ty Lawson's situation with the Denver Nuggets was so volatile that he was willing to forfeit guaranteed money in the final year of his contract in order to grease the wheels on a trade to the Houston Rockets.

This is extremely rare. But if any general manager was able to squeeze every single competitive advantage out of the deal it's Rockets GM Daryl Morey.

This allows the Rockets to hold onto some valuable cap space next summer and not lock themselves into a situation that could light itself on fire if Lawson continues to drive drunk and act like a clown.

It also gives Lawson every motivation to settle down and start acting like a professional human being.
