Larry Bird: Michael Jordan would 'kill me' in one-on-one right now

Ladies and gentlemen, find a calendar -- be it digital or good old paper -- and mark down today's date. Because Indiana Pacers president and Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird has admitted that he might not be able to win a basketball game.

Bird's trash-talking acumen and self-confidence are just as legendary as Bird's play, and for most of his interview with Dan Patrick on Monday morning, that confidence was on full display. Patrick asked Bird if he would include himself in the conversation for best shooters from deep for all-time, and Bird nearly scoffed at the question (in jest, of course):

"Yep," Bird said without hesitation. "C'mon, Dan."

Bird said that on top of Stephen Curry and himself, he'd include Chris Mullin, Mark Price and Reggie Miller in the conversation.

Patrick and Bird then talked lottery reform, with Bird floating the idea that a team should have to surrender its draft pick if it appears in the lottery for three consecutive seasons.

But the interview all led to one big question: Could Bird take Michael Jordan in a game of 1-on-1, today, right now?

Bird had joked earlier in the interview that he couldn't fit into an NBA uniform, and he continued that self-deprecation when it came to Jordan:

"Boy, that’d be a good game," Bird said. "God, I hate to admit this, but he’d kill me."

Hear us out, Bird and Jordan. It's July, almost August. There's not a whole lot going on in the NBA. A one-on-one game would draw a pretty hefty rating on pay-per-view.

Make. This. Happen.
