Kentucky's Booker fits the bill for Hornets in NBA draft
It's no secret that the Charlotte Hornets are in need of outside shooting. And barring a leap into the top-3 to nab one of the superstars of the draft, there's a very good chance that Charlotte will address that need come late June.
Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports that the Hornets met with Duke's Justise Winslow, Arizona's Stanley Johnson and Kentucky's Devin Booker at the draft combine in Chicago this past week, and all three prospects are known for their accuracy from deep.
Of the three, is Booker the best fit? Bonnell writes, "Booker, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard, shot 41 percent from 3 in his only college season. He says he’s aware of the Hornets’ needs and is 'definitely' the best long-range shooter in this draft."
"Every team needs shooters, but Charlotte would be a great fit for me," Bonnell quotes Booker as saying. "They already have a (Kentucky) alum in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and I’m close with him. I’d love to play in Charlotte."
Beyond Booker's ability to knock down the three-pointer, bringing in another member of Big Blue Nation wouldn't be the worst thing in the world from a marketability standpoint -- assuming a certain legendary Tar Heel in the Hornets front office is on board.
