Josh Smith happy how everything is working out in Houston
Before he arrived in Houston, Josh Smith's NBA career was slowly turning into a dumpster fire. He shot 41.3 percent from the floor in two years with the Detroit Pistons, and was a bad fit from the start, launching more threes than ever before and getting to the free-throw line less frequently.
It was a disturbing trend, but things have been more smooth with the Rockets. Here's Jenny Dial Creech with more, writing for the San Francisco Chronicle:
“'It’s really special,' Smith said. 'When I had the opportunity to decide where I was going, this was the No. 1 spot for me, and I felt like with all the prayers and the discussions with my family, I felt like I made the right decision and now I am playing in my first ever Western Conference finals and it’s a blessing.' Without Smith, the Rockets wouldn’t have made it this far. Whether starting or off the bench, Smith has fit into any role they have put him in. His offensive spurts in the first round and in Game 6 and 7 against the Clippers helped carry the Rockets to victory."
Great chemistry aside, Smith is shooting 37 percent from behind the three-point line, averaging about 13 points and six rebounds per game. His postseason True Shooting percentage has never been higher.
Smith has obviously benefited from his decision to come to Houston, but so have the Houston Rockets.
