Joel Embiid reportedly suffers setback in recovery from foot surgery

By Larry Brown

Joel Embiid has suffered a setback in his recovery from a foot surgery last year, according to a report.

Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday that Embiid, who was the No. 3 overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2014 draft, had something show up on his latest MRI.

Embiid was working out in Southern California in recent weeks and looking good according to reports. He also did not report having any pain. Despite Embiid not having pain, an MRI showed an issue as he recovers from surgery to repair a stress fracture that kept him out all of his rookie season.

The Sixers planned to have Embiid play on their summer league team, but Woj says that plan is now in question.

Embiid was considered a major risk entering the draft because of his foot problems, which were described as similar to the conditions that ruined Bill Walton and Yao Ming’s pro careers. As sad as it is to hear, it’s no surprise that Embiid may be having continual issues with his feet. In the meantime, hopefully he’ll continue to share awesome tweets like this to keep his fans entertained.
