Joel Embiid is really good at pregame warmups
Joel Embiid will not play in the NBA this season, but that hasn't stopped him from showing off what he could be doing if he were on the floor.
Apparently, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 draft is recovering from a foot injury that's kept him out all season, but is now healthy enough to impersonate Vince Carter.
Yes, that's a true 7-footer going through the legs and hammering it home. And yes, it's the same one who is also draining threes in the following video:
Embiid has always been immensely skilled. It's why he still managed to hear his named called third last June, even though he had an injury which could've sidelined him for an extended period. (Of course, that was hardly a deterrent for a team like the 76ers.)
The 20-year-old center averaged 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds during 23.1 minutes a night for University of Kansas in his sole season as a Jayhawk, but it was his bevy of post skills paired with remarkably quick feet which turned him into an offensive firework during the second half of the year. He may have gone only 1-for-5 on threes for the whole season, but he proved he could shoot away from the basket, and it's not entirely crazy to see a young, skilled player improve his shot and/or range during a year off the court.
Joel Embiid: 7-foot, 3-and-D specialist? Count me in.
