Jeff Teague, Hawks among league's leaders in 'secondary' assists

Smart passing has become integral to Atlanta's successes. This season, the Hawks are one of the most efficient in the NBA at the "secondary" assist. 

A secondary assist is a pass that leads to an assist within 2 seconds and 1 dribble. Also known as a "hockey assist" among sports fans, the stat indicates offensive effectiveness. According to NBA.com/Stats, the Hawks are currently ranked No. 3 overall for secondary assists per game this season. 

KL Chouinard, who writes for Atlanta's team, reports that Teague has the second-most secondary assists per game in the league. He averages 2.0 per game -- behind just Stephen Curry's 2.5 per game.
