Jason Terry's mom says he isn't retiring anytime soon
Jason Terry's consistent contribution for the Houston Rockets has been one of the most startling surprises of this entire season.
In his 16th overall year, Terry's postseason has been quite remarkable. He's averaging 8.7 points per game, shooting 36.8 percent from behind the three-point line and giving Houston some stellar defense while filling in for injured starter Patrick Beverley.
He's 37 years old, but Terry's mother believes he won't retire after this season ends. Here's what she had to say in a story recently published by The Oklahoman:
“He wants to do 19 years. But if he can eke out two more years he’d be happy, but no less than two. Ultimately three and even four years would be amazing to make it an even 20...He was a late bloomer because he really didn’t get into basketball until he was 13,” Cheatham said. “He always wanted to be a football player, but I thought he was too thin to play football so I pushed into basketball.”
Terry is an unrestricted free agent this summer, and shouldn't have any trouble finding work from one of the league's 30 teams. He can still shoot, still run an offense and still provide unquantifiable locker room leadership. What a story.
