Howard not concerned with number of post touches in Game 1
Dwight Howard's low-post game is not his team's primary weapon, but that doesn't mean it's not a useful option, especially when nothing else appears to be working.
Houston's offense went stale down the stretch of Game 1, but Howard was nowhere to be seen. Here's what he had to say about it the following day, per the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen:
“I can’t focus on that. I got to continue to be a presence on the defensive end, get more blocked shots, get more rebounds, run the floor more, do all the things I can do, not focus so much on if I’m getting the ball or not. There were some times that my teammates missed me and there were some times I missed my teammates. But that can’t be my focus and I won’t let it stop me from doing all the things I can do for this team.”
Statements like this are so incredibly positive for a team currently in the dumps. Howard's come such a long way, and it's tremendous for him to realize what's best for him isn't necessarily best for the team.
