Denver will have to bring their A game in order to contain Carmelo Anthony.

The Denver Nuggets take on Carmelo Anthony in New York for their next game. It is easier said than done to slow down this great scorer, but it is possible.

You are probably saying “Matt, this is one of the greatest scorers in history going up against a poor defensive team. How is that possible?”

Well the answer is more simplistic than you would think. The way to keep him from going on a tear is to double-team him. Do not let the distractions in New York fool you.

Despite the feud that has been escalating with Phil Jackson, Melo has still been putting up great numbers. In their last loss against the Clippers, he still put in 28 points to go along with 9 rebounds.

However, if Denver puts Wilson Chandler on him, a solid defender himself, and brings in another player and forces Anthony to be a play maker, things can get interesting.

It will force the other Knicks players to beat the Nuggets. That means guys like Porzingis, Rose, and Lee are going to have to pick up the slack.

Carmelo can’t do it all and it seems like he is the only one giving an honest effort for New York as of late.

Therefore, the smart thing for Coach Malone to do would to key in on Carmelo Anthony. Yes, it is risky possibly leaving Porzingis open, but he has been struggling lately. Rose could wind back the clock, but the chances of losing because of that are lesser than letting Melo running a muck on Denver’s less than stellar defense.

If the Nuggets allow Anthony to drop 30 points, then there chances of winning the game will incrementally decrease.
