Hornets' Paul to miss second game with concussion

New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul will miss a second consecutive game Wednesday night as he continues to recover from a concussion suffered Sunday night in Cleveland, The Times Picayune reported.

Paul sat out of the team's Wednesday morning shootaround as he rode a stationary bike courtside.

The Hornets' point guard was injured after a frightening head-on collision with Cavaliers' Ramon Sessions.

Paul was left motionless on the court before being stretchered off in a neck brace. The 25-year-old guard partially allayed his teammates' worst fears as he gave a thumbs-up while being taken off the court and he was reportedly in good spirits after being cleared by a nearby hospital.

Hornets coach Monty Williams said Wednesday Paul is progressing well, but doctors want to remain cautious.

"It's one of those things that they don't want to mess around with and I don't blame them,'' Williams said.

Jarrett Jack, who has averaged 18.8 points in his previous five games, will replace Paul as the Hornets take on the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night.

New Orleans is fighting to hold on to a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The team is currently seventh with 16 games remaining in the regular season.
