Highs and Lows: Sacramento Kings Upset The Grizzlies
The Sacramento Kings will leave Memphis tonight with a victory as they defeated the Grizzlies by a score of 96-92. Listed down below are the highs and lows that pertain to tonight’s game by the Kings.
Highs
Garrett Temple: Temple continues to be a spark for his team off the bench. The final stat line for the 6’6” guard tonight was 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists while playing efficient defense. The month of December has been good for Temple, as he has averaged so far 10.4 points per game.
Defense: The Grizzlies this season have not been a good offensive team (97.4 PPG), and the Kings made sure their offensive woes continued tonight. For the game, the Kings limited the Grizzlies to just 92 points for the game while shooting 37.7% from the floor and 20% from the perimeter.
Kosta Koufos: Tonight was a season-high night for the Kings’ starting center, Kosta Koufos. For the game, Koufos finished by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Prior to the game, there was an emphasis on the matchup between both team’s group of big men, and Kosta’s performance tonight definitely helped DeMarcus Cousins and the Kings win that battle.
Lows
Battle of the Boards: The rebounding matchup was big in tonight’s game due to both teams having elite big men. Unfortunately, the Kings weren’t able to win the battle of the boards tonight as Memphis barely outrebounded Sacramento by a score of 47-45.
Fouling: The Kings played very physical tonight, but maybe too physical. The black and purple finished tonight’s game recording twenty-five personal fouls, six of those fouls belonging to star player DeMarcus Cousins who was fouled out for the game. As a result, the Grizzlies had the opportunity to make thirty-six free-throws tonight. They finished the game making twenty-nine.
Perimeter Shooting: Although Sacramento outshot Memphis in the perimeter game tonight, the Kings still shot poorly from beyond the arc. To finish tonight’s game, the Kings shot just 29.2% from the perimeter where the only one player on the team (Garrett Temple) made more than one three-point shot.
