Hawks honor the legendary 'Pistol' Pete Maravich with amazing tribute

The Atlanta Hawks paid tribute to the late Pete Maravich on Friday by retiring The Pistol's No. 44. As part of the ceremony, the Hawks provided a cool image on the floor that honored the memory of the one-of-a-kind player.

Maravich, a Basketball Hall of Famer, played his first four NBA seasons with the Hawks, averaging better than 24 points per game. He was a first-round pick by Atlanta (third overall) in 1970 out of LSU, where he scored an astonishing 3,667 points in three seasons.

A five-time NBA All-Star who died in 1988 at age 40, Maravich now has three jerseys retired: the Hawks, and No. 7 by both the Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans.
