George Karl 'convinced' DeMarcus Cousins wants to be with Kings

The Sacramento Kings seem to be in a constant battle of “Will he stay or will he go?” with DeMarcus Cousins, but head coach George Karl believes the superstar isn’t going anywhere.

According to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England, Karl is convinced Cousins wants to stay with the Kings.

The only way Cousins would leave Sacramento is if the franchise ships off its best player, which wouldn’t be a particularly bright move.

Cousins is under contract until the end of the 2017-18 season, per HoopsHype, so the Kings technically don’t need to convince him anyway. But there’s no doubt Cousins has internally considered demanding a trade.

Karl has consistently wanted everything his way instead of building around Cousins, one of the most dominant physical presences in the league. He even tried to get the 25-year-old suspended after a less-than-friendly reported dispute in the locker room.

However, recent comments bode well for Sacramento fans. Cousins told Marc Spears of Yahoo that he’ll kidnap Rajon Rondo before letting the point guard leave in free agency.

While it can be dangerous to read into simple words, Cousins at least appears like he’s planning on being with the Kings at least through the remainder of his contract.

Maybe that will change when the next argument inevitably comes around. Enjoy the roller coaster, Sacramento.
