Eric Gordon beats Kyrie Irving in 3-Point Contest as Klay Thompson falters

Eric Gordon is a big reason the Houston Rockets have made 420 more 3-pointers than the next closest team, so maybe we should have seen this coming.

On Saturday night in New Orleans, Gordon showed off his long-range accuracy by beating Kyrie Irving in the 2017 NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest.

Gordon and Irving tied in the three-person finals with scores of 20 — despite Gordon entering the final rack with 19 points, needing just two for the win — before the Rockets guard secured the win in overtime.




Every time Irving shot, Twitter jokingly referenced his recent comments about a flat Earth, with Cavs owner Dan Gilbert even getting in on the fun.

Defending champion Klay Thompson, the prohibitive betting favorite before the competition, didn't make it out of the first round with a score of 18. Gordon had 25 in that round, Irving had 20, and Kemba Walker had 19.
