Dirk Nowitzki is happy with how the season has started
Dirk Nowitzki isn't afraid to be blunt, and you have to imagine he's a bit of a perfectionist after 18 years in the NBA.
But instead of being down on his team for losing a little steam in recent losses, Nowitzki is apparently very pleased with how the Mavs have started this season.
Perhaps Nowitzki is weighing in the fact that Chandler Parsons and Wesley Matthews aren't yet at full strength, but Dirk explained his reasons for optimism to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News:
"If you would have told me after that training camp we had that we'd be sitting at 9-5, I would have taken it, for sure," Nowitzki said after the team's morning shootaround. "The ones we lost, we're always mad. "We should have beaten the Pelicans without Anthony Davis and OKC without [Kevin] Durant, but that's the way this league works. I like the way the team is looking, but we got a long way to go."
"Overall, I like the potential of it. We're a veteran team that has no egos that wants to win."
