We are all Nuggets fans and we are all NBA2K fans. But, do we use the Nuggets in 2K as much as we like to?  Well, prepare your consoles once again and get ready to use the Denver Nuggets in NBA2K because you will NOT regret it!

Well, folks. That time of year is coming once again! The time when we all- basketball fans and gamers- unite as one person to get the new yearly version of NBA2K. Personally, I have been playing 2K games since 2012 (before that, I played NBA Live, but we all know how that turned out), and every year I get the same feeling: “I can’t wait to get the game!”.

And so NBA 2K17 is at the next corner, waiting for us to go pre-order it and then get the game fully so we can play once again with our favorite team and use our favorite players.

The thing about 2K is that they found a lot of things and features that they can add every year so that the game itself doesn’t get boring.

This is when the thing gets interesting because we can finally get our hands on a full young Nuggets roster that has Jamal Murray, Malik Beasley and Juancho Hernangomez in it. So, we can create our own lineup and have lots of fun and at the same time, increasing our desire of watching the Nuggets play this season.

I know that I will be one of those guys that will get the game and immediately start using the Nuggets to see how they work, the lineups and combinations, the playbook, weak points, etc. Because, believe or not, this game does help a lot in understanding the game of basketball itself.  So, how exactly can we use the Nuggets in NBA2K?

What are the tricks and tips that can get us to be invincible? (a little exaggerated). Here are some tips on how to crush with the Nuggets in 2K.

What To Do

First off, start with a lineup that makes sense and that is proven to be succesful. The great part is that the game itself gives you a good lineup to start with, even though is not always the best one.

Getting a good lineup in position and setting the right substitutions will make a good rotation throughout the game that can maintain you competing in the game. A great thing about the game is that is very realistic, so it is very important to be conscious of the kind of minutes you give to the players, the shots you take and how you rotate them.

I play a lot with the Nuggets in NBA2K16 (I have mastered them, no joke) and the best strategy that I use that can help me win games is the fast break. Setting Jokic and Faried down low, with Gallinari, Harris and Mudiay is the perfect picture as a starting lineup.

And when Jokic gets that rebound and you give the ball to Mudiay, just start sprinting and you will see Faried, Harris and Gallinari running alongside Mudiay.

The 2K creators have integrated the fast break into the game in a whole new way because of how the game itself has transformed this days, so you HAVE to take advantage of that. Imagine Barton, Beasley and maybe Toupane running that break and you got yourself an alley-oop show.

Another card that you want to play is the low post card. If the Nuggets have one thing is great post players like Nurkic, Jokic, Arthur and even Gallinari. Spacing the floor and getting the ball to one of these guys can make the game a lot easier for you, specially if you take advantage of the pump fakes and the silly fouls they use to call.

I absolutely love to play down low because it gives you many options. For example, give the ball to Jokic and just see what happens. You can post the guy who is guarding him and try to score on a bucket, pump fake and wait for the foul, or pass the ball to a cutting Harris or to an open Chandler.

If you can master this move, you sure will give a lot of headaches in defense.

Moving the Ball

If you are more of a pass and shoot kind of guy, then you can try moving the ball a lot around the court and looking for the pick and roll button that helps so much.

Getting to the top of the key and calling for a screen is a great way to score given the improvement 2K has made on the pick and roll system. You can either attack with whoever has the ball in that moment, pass to the big man who’s rolling or pass it outside for a quick three pointer. But I must say that for this, is better to have a lineup that will work.

For example, putting Mudiay as the ball handler, Nurkic as the screener and Harris and Murray (can’t wait to use him) on the three point line can be a perfect lineup for this kind of plays. You have to pick your spots and that is the most important rule.

The Last Key

Last but not least, have fun. One thing that I learned playing this game is that you cannot let the game get too much in your head. If somethings does not happen the way you want to, just call a timeout, take a deep breath and keep playing.

If you play frustrated or angry, you will not be concentrated and you will lose; and that means that our Nuggets look bad. So just try to have fun and represent the powder blue and yellow with pride.

It has happened to me over and over again. When down 15-18 points, you must stay in control and not get upset. This will be key in being able to attempt a comeback, and ultimately remember that NBA 2k17 will at most be a game. Winning and losing is part of it.

What Not to Do

Now that we have seen what things to do on 2K with the Nuggets, we are now mentioning what things NOT to do. For example, we do NOT want to try crazy lineups that we think may fit. One thing that NBA2K has is the playbook system. Is where the plays of every team are saved and are shown in the gameplay.

So, for example, if you put Gallinari and Chandler as the 5 and 4 respectively, the game’s playbook will translate as if Gallinari and Chandler are actually Jokic and Faried so the game styles are not the same. This will limit your offensive and defensive game a lot and it will give you a hard time trying to play that small ball that you really thought it was good.

Another thing you do not want to do is try to play one on one a lot. The Nuggets are a team that need to pass the ball so they can score. T

hey do not have great ball handlers and making steals in the game is pretty easy. So, trying to play one on one EVERY TIME is not a great choice, as you will end up turning the ball over most of the time.

And finally, do not try to depend on three pointers. If you are truly a Nuggets fan, you will remember that the Nuggets were one of the worst teams in three point shooting this past season, so shooting a lot of three pointers will affect you a lot.

This will lead to the other team taking advantage from every miss possible.

The game itself is quite complicated even though it has a basic gameplay. But to fully understand it, you have to play it a lot.

There are many things that people do that works for them and there are other things that don’t, but this is mainly the top things that can help you become the best NBA2K Nuggets player ever.

Let’s just wait until the game comes out and see if we can get the Nuggets on top.
