Darrell Arthur denied many teams and stuck with the Denver Nuggets. For this reason, he should be considered a Mile High Icon.

According to the Denver Post, Darrell Arthur said this about staying in Denver:

I felt comfortable here,” he said, explaining his decision. “I felt comfortable with what we’ve got going. They asked me if I wanted to get traded last year at the trade deadline and I said ‘No, I like what we have going on.’ I could have gotten more money if I would have went somewhere else, but me and my wife we love it here, I love what’s going on and I love what we’re building with. So it was an easy decision.

According to this post, he received interested from the Wizards, Spurs, and Clippers.

This is just weeks after it was reported that Danilo Gallinari also refused to be traded at last years trade deadline. Along with that, the Denver Nuggets have also refused great trades for Will Barton. Along with Chandler, these four players could take money to go elsewhere, but they want to stay in Denver.

This is the way to start a culture in the Mile High City, and Darrell Arthur, who is mainly a 3-and-D player, has played with zest while in Denver. He was able to play over 20 minutes per game in 70 games.

Darrell Arthur may also be in for an addition role this upcoming season.

Arthur eventually was given a 3-year, $23 million deal which could be arguable the steal of free agency with such lucrative contracts signed elsewhere.

Last season, Darrell Arthur was not a high volume three point shooter, but he was a quality three point shooter. Arthur averaged 0.6 threes per game and shot 38.5% from downtown which was good enough for second on the team. He was only behind now Magic guard, D.J. Augustin.

According to the Denver Stiffs, a popular SB Nation Nuggets blog, Mike Malone said this about the starting lineup:

“There’s a lot of speculation about that. Obviously, we have Kenneth Faried, who’s a tremendous player. At the end of the season, we kinda toyed around…experimented with a big lineup with Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic playing together. And we have guys like Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler who are more than capable of playing the 4.”

With so many options at the four, Darrell Arthur could be the surprise winner of this group. With both Arthur and Jokic able to shoot the three ball, the Nuggets could spread the floor in order to watch Emmanuel Mudiay operate for effectively.

If Darrell Arthur could become a starter, DA could see a huge role increase which would be great for his career.

This former Jayhawk has turned into a quality role player for the Nuggets, and he should be considered an icon for staying in Denver this offseason.
