Carroll indicated he was not playing at full health in recent reports. His performance suffered as his injuries became more nagging. Carroll had already missed 13 games for Toronto this season; he missed just 21 games during two years with the Hawks. Carroll, who had the surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, has no timetable for his return.

This season, he averages 11.7 points and 4.8 rebounds over 31.9 minutes in 23 games. His extended absence will offer more playing time for Terrence Ross, James Johnson and likely even point guard Cory Joseph. Johnson started when Carroll missed time against Cleveland earlier this week.
