Deadline for Tristan Thompson to sign a deal is Oct. 1
The contract dispute between Tristan Thompson and the Cavaliers is ongoing, but theoretically, it should be resolved one way or another very soon. As broken down by ESPN's Brian Windhorst:
Thompson could hold out for longer, of course, but in doing so would lose his largest piece of leverage. The Oct. 1 date is the deadline for him to sign that one-year qualifying offer, which would allow him to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, and potentially bolt the Cavaliers as punishment for the team not giving him what he wants.
